‘PRODUCT REVIEW’ The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

By Product Review No Comments

Gone are the days when I thought that The Body Shop was for pre-teens who needed to stock up on their White Musk and Satsuma perfumes.  Don’t get me wrong I was one of those pre-teens back in the day but I must admit that I haven’t even stepped foot inside a Body Shop for at least 10 years.  It was actually my husband that re-piqued my interest in The Body Shop because he bought me Deep Sleep a calming bath milk that I desperately needed after the hustle and bustle of a strenuous work week. I absolutely love Deep…

‘THROWBACK THURSDAY’ Bridal Makeup for a Blue Jay’s Bride

By Bridal, Throw Back Thursday No Comments

Last year I had the honor of glamming up a bride named Kim who just happened to be marrying former Major League Baseball player Roberto Alomar.  Although the wedding was on a Wednesday once you realize the significance of the date it all made sense.  They ended up tying the knot on 12-12-12. Any Toronto Blue Jays fans would immediately note that ’12’ was Roberto’s number.  And currently the #12 banner proudly hangs in the Rogers Centre because the Blue Jays retired that number after Roberto was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  I met with Kim about a month before…

“Christmas is around the corner”

By Commercial work No Comments

Christmas is almost here…15 days to be exact and its one of my favorite times of the year (besides Halloween of course).  This year I got into the Christmas Spirit early having done hair and makeup for multiple Christmas commercials way before most people were even thinking about the holidays.  I thought I would share some of my work! Here is 1 of 8 Canadian Tire commercials that I worked on…these were a lot of fun: Click here——–> Canadian Tire-Unexpected Gift Roomba Vacuum How cute is that little kitty???   Here is a close up shot: And here is another commercial…

‘Halloween’ A Makeup Artist’s favorite time of year!

By Uncategorized No Comments

Halloween for a Makeup Artist is bigger than Thanksgiving and Christmas combined.  I start thinking about my Halloween costume as soon as summer ends, sometimes even sooner 😉 Growing up, my house was the one on the street that all the trick-or-treaters wanted to go to.   The front lawn was transformed into a graveyard, a strobe light was going off blinding anyone that came near and my dad would jump out and scare the kids with a frightful mask on his face. Needless to say Halloween has always been a big deal for me. Whenever I start to brainstorm Halloween…

Wow what a week!  I just had 20 gigs in 1 week that included lots of makeup and hair for the Toronto Film Festival, a bridal editorial, glamming up a soap opera actress for various television appearances, a corporate video shoot for RBC, a wedding, an engagement shoot and a fitness photo session!  INSANE but I survived and loved every minute of it 🙂 The icing on top of this super busy/exciting week-it was my first wedding anniversary!  Yup on September 15th 2012 I married the love of my life. I have done hair and makeup for so many weddings…

Mario Dedivanovic Workshop in NYC

By Blog, Celebrity Makeup No Comments

It was a quick last minute decision but I decided to travel to New York City this past weekend to attend a workshop by Mario Dedivanovic.  I traveled 10+ hours on a bus and was even hassled at the border!  But anyway, for those of you that may not recognize Mario’s name you would definitely recognize his work…he isKim Kardashian‘s Makeup Artist. He is the master behind the most commonly referenced makeup looks right now. I cant tell you how often my clients will pull out a pic of Kim and tell me that they want their makeup to look…

Working at Breakfast Television-Celebrity Style Steal

By Celebrity Makeup, Uncategorized No Comments

Today I did hair and makeup for a segment on Breakfast Television called Celebrity Style Steal.  Like any other time Ive worked at BT I had a ridiculous early call time of 4:45am-yuck!  Anyway I rolled myself out of bed and even managed to make myself look somewhat presentable-oh the power of makeup!  I got this opportunity through Fancy Face Inc which is a full service/mobile makeup and hair agency that I have been working with for the past 2 months.  There were 3 artists that needed to get 3 models and 1 host ready in about an hour.  I…

‘MAKEUP MONDAY’ Artist Spotlight for T&M Magazine

By Celebrity Makeup, Makeup Mondays No Comments

Summer is always my peak season and I find I’m go go go and I rarely get a moment to reflect on my own career/accomplishments.  So it was a nice surprise to wake up this morning to an email from Danailya Reece from T&M Magazine.  Back in May she had asked me to be part of their Artist Spotlight where they feature Makeup Artists in the business.  I was honoured to be asked and I submitted some photos and answered some questions about my career.  I had actually forgotten about the interview being so busy so it was welcomed news…

‘MAKEUP MONDAYS’ Facepainting for Kids

By Facepainting for Kids, Makeup Mondays No Comments

I love kids and kids love me, so any time I get asked to facepaint for a kid’s birthday party I jump at the chance. I have been facepainting pretty much as long as I have been a Makeup Artist-that would be 13 years and counting! Over 10 years ago I even used my facepainting skills to fundraise money to travel to Costa Rica for a 3 month volunteer project with Youth Challenge International. (That’s me below with the purple hair)! This past Canada Day weekend I was hired to facepaint at a 2 year olds birthday party. Here is…
