VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!

By Bridal 3 Comments

Ian and Becca were celebrating 10 years as a couple and 3 years of marriage. They were looking for a fun and memorable way to commemorate their relationship. We were heading to Vegas so they thought it be great to renew their vows, complete with an Elvis impersonator so that is exactly what they did! The two lovebirds booked a vow-renewal at A Wedding Chapel-A Chapel of Love in the heart of Las Vegas. I had the honor of doing Becca’s hair and makeup for their wedding 3 years prior. For this look I used a wash of plums on…

BOO! Its that time of year again and I’m getting super excited about all the fun makeups I will be doing for Halloween.  If its anything like last year I will definitely be pumping out some Mexican Sugar Skulls! My inbox has been flooded with people looking to have their faces painted like the Day of the Dead…unfortunately I have been booked solid for Halloween since about June!  That is what made me decide to do a simple ‘how-to’ that anyone could follow. But before I walk you through the steps of an awesome looking sugar skull I wanted to…

‘PRODUCT REVIEW’ Original Tangle Teezer

By Product Review, Uncategorized 3 Comments

Another review folks-this time for a new innovative hair brush called the Original Tangle Teezer.  Now I must admit that I had seen this brush in various cosmetic supply stores and I always just passed right by it.  I even thought it kinda resembled a dog brush! But, when I was asked to try it out I had a closer look at the TT and all of the buzz out there actually got me curious. Firstly what is the Tangle Teezer? On the TT website it is described as “a professional detangling hairbrush that is loved by hairdressers and used…

‘A 3-Day Wedding’

By Bridal, Uncategorized 5 Comments

With all the weddings I have done over my 15+ year career you think I would have done a South Asian Wedding.  But for whatever reason it never really happened.  I have done makeup for a South Asian Bridal Magazine-Lavish Dulhan but never an actual REAL bride…until this summer! I met my bride Natasha through a referral.  She needed hair and makeup services for 3 days over the August long weekend-Friday would be the Hannah, Saturday the ceremony and Sunday the reception.  I first did her makeup and hair trial and immediately I appreciated Natatsha’s great sense of humour!  I also…

‘THROWBACK THURSDAYS’ The 2013 Junos

By Celebrity Makeup, Throw Back Thursday 3 Comments

I travel to Saskatchewan regularly for both work and to visit my husband’s side of the family.  I was there last year for 3 weeks of photoshoots.  I found out that the Juno Awards were going to be in Regina while I was there and I knew I had to be part of it.  I ended up working with MAC Cosmetics backstage dolling up some big names in Canadian music.  For the gala dinner I did makeup for a young country star Kira Isabella. For the actual show I did makeup for rapper Madchild from Swollen Members, the members of Dragonette and Marianas…

‘PRODUCT REVIEW’ The Balm’s Manizer Duo Kit

By Product Review, Uncategorized 4 Comments

I was lucky enough to be asked by Obsessed Canada to review two makeup products from The Balm-which is a complete makeup, skincare, hair care and nail polish line.   The Balm has a “beauty in five minutes” philosophy which marries well with the busy modern day woman.  The two products I got to sample are the Mary-Lou Manizer aka ‘The Luminizer’ and the Betty-Lou Manizer aka ‘The Bronzing Bandit’. The packaging for both products is super cute, complete with retro-looking cartoon characters.  Each compact has 8.5g of product and has a handy mirror inside. Lets first discuss the Mary-Lou.  If…

‘THROW BACK THURSDAYS’-Canada’s Best Beauty Talent

By Celebrity Makeup, Throw Back Thursday 63 Comments

Over two years ago there was a buzz in the Canadian hair and makeup industry. Canada’s Best Beauty Talent was a new online show that was looking for contestants to compete for the title of Canada’s top makeup artist and top hairstylist. There were tons of video applications being loaded to YouTube and Vimeo daily and I must admit I was a addicted to watching them. It was so great to see the creativity and effort that fellow hairstylists and makeup artists went through to get noticed. I knew I had to apply to be on the show and I…

‘PRODUCT REVIEW’ The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

By Product Review 2 Comments

Gone are the days when I thought that The Body Shop was for pre-teens who needed to stock up on their White Musk and Satsuma perfumes.  Don’t get me wrong I was one of those pre-teens back in the day but I must admit that I haven’t even stepped foot inside a Body Shop for at least 10 years.  It was actually my husband that re-piqued my interest in The Body Shop because he bought me Deep Sleep a calming bath milk that I desperately needed after the hustle and bustle of a strenuous work week. I absolutely love Deep…
